Each year, the member states of Region I have the opportunity to nominate a candidate for the Young Male Referee of the Year and the Young Female Referee of the Year. Most of these nominated referees will attend the Region I Championships and will be honored in front of peers who are officiating at the Regional Championships. Each State Association needs to complete a Nomination Form and submit the form to the Region I Office by April 1 of each year.The Region I Young Referees of the Year for 2008 are:
