Region I Report - October 2006  The Novice Coach DVD that was introduced at the adidas® workshop in Salt Lake City last February has sold over 41,800 copies.  This very basic and informative DVD as a joint effort of the National Recreation  Committee and the National Coaching Committee.  Feedback has been extremely positive on this tool for the beginning recreation coach.  Many states are distributing the DVD at coaching clinics and placing them in introductory coach's kits.  Copies are available from the US Youth Soccer National Office at $3.00 per copy.

The National Recreation Committee will continue its support of the National Coaching Committee on the implementation of the US Youth Soccer Parent Education Program.  This program is designed to help parents learn and understand the game of soccer.  Since the vast majority of players enter soccer at the recreational level it is natural for these two committees to join forces on this project.  "The New Soccer Parent" DVD is expected to be ready for sale and distribution at the next Workshop in Houston next February.

US Youth Soccer has announced the launch of an interactive online tool to assist parents as they support their youth athlete. Designed for parents in the game of soccer to aid their efforts in growing the spirit without limiting the child, The Parent’s Guide – An Introduction to Youth Soccer is an online self-exploratory exercise in enhancing the experiences of players and their families.
