Practice/Training Facility at Regionals

West Virginia has obtained four practice/training facilities for teams that would like to have some field time before the start of the Regional competition. These are separate facilities. Teams may not use fields at Barboursville Park, the Scott Ortho facility, or Marshall University for training.

These practice fields are only available on Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2. Please do not ask for other times.

There is limited field space at each facility. Assignments will be made on a first come, first served basis. If necessary, you may have to share a field with another team. Please be prompt to start your training session and to end your session so that other teams may use the facility.

PRACTICE SITE #1 - Columbia Gas Fields, Wednesday, July 1st and Thursday, July 2nd (Teams staying in Dunbar, St. Albans, Cross Lanes, Nitro)

There are four fields available at this location. Fields 1-3 are full size fields, while Field 4 is for small sided teams. Fields are available on Wednesday, July 1, starting at 8:00 am for one hour per team. The last starting time on Wednesday will be 6:00 pm. On Thursday, July 2, fields will be available starting at 8:00 am for one hour per team. The last starting time on Thursday is 11:00 am as teams need to prepare for the Opening Ceremonies. Directions to the Columbia Gas Fields Location: Take I-64 West to the St. Albans Exit to Route 35, Turn right onto Route 35 and proceed about 2 miles toward St Albans to the old 84 Lumber location. Ferrell Gas is beside 84 Lumber (look for the large white propane tank). Turn left towards the old 84 Lumber building, then right in front of the building, then left again. Cross the railroad tracks and the fields are on the left between the tracks and the Columbia Gas warehouse. No parking is allowed along the access road to the fields. This road is designated as a fire lane. Please park in one of the parking areas.

Practice Site #2 - Elk River Soccer Complex, Wednesday, July 1st and Thursday, July 2nd (Teams staying in Charleston Plus areas)

There are four fields available at this location. Fields 1-3 are full size fields, while Field 4 is for small sided teams. Fields are available on Wednesday, July 1, starting at 8:00 am for one hour per team. The last starting time on Wednesday will be 6:00 pm. On Thursday, July 2, fields will be available starting at 8:00 am for one hour per team. The last starting time on Thursday is 11:00 am as teams need to prepare for the Opening Ceremonies. Practice Site #3 - Friends of Coal Fields at Trace Fork, Wednesday, July 1st and Thursday, July 2nd (Teams in the Charleston area plus South Charleston and Kanawha City)

There are four practice areas available at this location. The first is approximately the size of a full size soccer field while the other three are small training areas. Fields are available on Wednesday, July 1, starting at 8:00 am for one hour per team. The last starting time on Wednesday will be 6:00 pm. On Thursday, July 2, fields will be available starting at 8:00 am for one hour per team. The last starting time on Thursday is 11:00 am as teams need to prepare for the Opening Ceremonies. Directions to the Friends of Coal Fields at Trace Fork - 20 RHL Blvd South, Charleston, WV (adjacent to the South Charleston Ice Arena)
From downtown Charleston, take the Oakwood Road exit of I-64. Proceed South on Route 119 to the Shops at Trace Fork Shopping Center (Target, Lowe’s, Ice Arena etc.) – Turn Right at the light into Trace Fork. Turn Right at the stop sign. Go to the end of the road (RHL Blvd) and turn left then immediately right into the parking lot of the Ice Arena and soccer fields on far side of lot.

Practice Site #4 - Barboursville Park, Wednesday, July 1st and Thursday, July 2nd (Teams staying in Barboursville, Huntington, Ashland and Ohio.) These fields are in another section of Barboursville Park from the Soccer Complex.

There are five practice areas available at this location. Fields are available on Wednesday, July 1, starting at 8:00 am for one hour per team. The last starting time on Wednesday will be 6:00 pm. On Thursday, July 2, fields will be available starting at 8:00 am for one hour per team. The last starting time on Thursday is 11:00 am as teams need to prepare for the Opening Ceremonies. Directions to Fields: These fields are in another section of Barboursville Park from the Soccer Complex. Teams should follow directions to the Barboursville Fields After crossing the bridge into the complex, take an immediate left and cross the bridge toward fields 13-16. Stay to the right and follow the road approximately 1 mile to a T intersection. For practice areas 1,2 & 3 turn left Fields are on the right across from baseball fields. For practice areas 4 & 5 turn right, fields are close to the football field on the right.

NOTE: On Thursday, July 2nd all teams must be off the fields by noon due to the Opening Ceremonies to be held at Marshall University in Huntington.
