Itinerary

Friday, April 14th  

Depart JFK International Airport (NYC) for Paris, France aboard British Airways Flight #112 at 6:00pm.  Arrive (London Heathrow) at 6:05am.  Depart (London Heathrow) on British Airways Flight #304 at 7:15am and arrive Paris at 9:30am.

Saturday, April 15th

Arrive at Charles De Gaulle International Airport where Harvard Sports multi-lingual tour manager will meet the team, and escort the team to their hotel for settling in.  Training session for the team with staff will be held in the early afternoon.  Lunch on own.  There will be free time in Paris for casual sightseeing, and shopping.  Your manager will suggest places to go via subway (maps provided).  Dinner on own. 

Sunday, April 16th

After breakfast, team will depart for a Paris bus tour to familiarize them with the ‘City of Lights’.  The bus tour with a bi-lingual guide will go to the Notre Dame Cathedral along the Seine River, Monte Matre, up the famous Champs Elysees, around the Arch de Triomphe, passing the Eiffel Tower.

There will be a three course lunch early afternoon near the Louvre Museum (included).  After lunch the escort will by-pass the lines and enter the World renowned Louvre, home of the statues Venus de Milo, Victory at Samothrace and the quintessential, painting of the Mona Lisa.  (Entry fee included).

In late afternoon, the team will transfer to a local football club for Game 1 against D-1 side.  There will be a Social with the team after the game.  Dinner planned tonight in Paris at carefully selected restaurant.

Monday, April 17th

After early breakfast the team will depart for the Home of King Louis XIV, the Sun King at Versailles.  It is suggested that the Region I Group rent the English language rendition of the walking tour through this magnificent palace (not included).  Visit Louis XIV interior church, bedroom salons for the Queens, Hall of Mirrors, Gardens.  Built in the late 17th century, Versailles served as the home to many king and queen until the French Revolution in 1789.  Return to Paris for lunch (not included) and free time.

At 4:00pm, the team will meet at the Eiffel Tower, where the guide will purchase group tickets and they will traverse to the 3rd level of this magnificent landmark built during the 19th century Paris World’s Fair.  Stroll to the nearby Seine River, and board the cruise liner for a English language narrated boat ride up the river (included).  Transfer to football pitch for Game 2 in the evening.  There will be a Social after the game and dinner (included).

Tuesday, April 18th

After breakfast, training continues at local pitch.  There will be free time in Paris for final shopping and sightseeing.  Late afternoon team departs for train station for transfer by overnight rail to Milan, Italy.  Overnight berths have been arranged for the group.  The team will have dinner on the train.  The team should remember to ask for a wake up tap at your door for tomorrow morning’s arrival in Milan.

Wednesday, April 19th

The train porter will announce estimated time of arrival in Milan.  Breakfast today on own in the train dining compartment or wait until you arrive at the train terminal in Milan.  The Harvard Sports tour manager will meet the team on arrival in the early morning.  The team will transfer to Milan for a conducted tour of this marvelous city.

The team will have a half-day tour with a bi-lingual guide at San Siro Stadium, home of AC and Inter Milan Football Clubs.  Transfer to sports training center for work out with USA Staff.  The team will have dinner with the Italian Women’s Federation staff and National President at a local Ristorante (included).  The team will stay overnight in Milan.

Thursday, April 20th

After breakfast, the team will depart for a 2 hour tour of Milan.  Lunch on own.  The team will transfer in the afternoon to Lake Como, a beautiful Alpine town, close to the Swiss border.  Arrive in Como and free time for walking orientation of town center and Lake areas.  Transfer to sports center for Italian Federation Game in the evening.  Kick off for game is 5:00pm.  Dinner in evening at selected restaurant (included).  The team will stay overnight in Lake Como.

Friday, April 21st

After breakfast, the team will transfer to Florence in Central Italy and is expected to arrive around 12:00pm.  Lunch on own and at 2:00pm there will be a guided tour of the city.  

The guide has planned a 2 hour guided tour of this exquisite city.  The team will visit famous Piazza del Duomo, in the city center, the Clock tower of Giotto (admission not included), and the Ponte Vecchio, who’s main door is flanked by a copy of Michelangelo’s David.

Florence is a great city to purchase gold, glass, and leather goods.  The guide will point out areas where these items are sold at great prices. There is a great open-air market just off the central plaza.  Shopping and free time will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. 

Depart for Perugia situated in the heart of the beautiful Umbria Region.  Check into Hotel, triple/double occupancy, with private facilities.  Dinner included tonight. There will be free time to explore this beautiful town.

Saturday, April 22nd

After breakfast, guided tour of Perugia.  Lunch on own.  After visiting Peruggia, the team will transfer to local sports center to play friendly match.  Return to hotel after the match.  The team will have dinner and overnight stay in Perugia.

Sunday, April 23rd

After early breakfast, free visit to Assisi (a famous Catholic center).  Depart for Rome area.  Arrival and check into hotel.  The team will have free time and an overnight stay in Rome area.

Monday, April 24th

After breakfast, guided tour of Rome including Cistine Chapel, Vatican Museums (not included).  The team will visit the Cistine Chapel (tickets not included).  These optional tickets should be reserved with a deposit prior to departure since this time in Rome will be the worst in history for sightseeing.  The bi-lingual guide will make other suggestions for visiting attractions.  Evening Final Game 5 tonight against local side.  Farewell dinner tonight at carefully selected pizzaria.

Tuesday, April 25th

After breakfast the team will transfer to Fiumicino International Airport for return flight to the United States.

Depart (Rome) on British Airways Flight 2539 at 7:20am and arrive (London Gatwick) at 9:05am.  Depart (London Gatwick) on British Airways Flight 2173 at 10:30am and arrive JFK International Airport (NYC) at 1:25pm.
