Region I Announces Added ODP Regional Pools

Region I Director Bob Palmeiro has announced plans to add twelve new regional ODP teams to the US Youth Soccer Region I ODP program.  Two teams will be added for both the U14, U15, and U16 boys and girls programs  for the Inter-Regional level events.  These new teams will be in addition to the regular US Youth Soccer Region I pools that will participate in all other ODP events.  The addition to the program has the full support of the US Youth Soccer Region I State Presidents and the Region I ODP staff.

One team will be established in the North portion of Region I and the other in the South portion of Region I for each of the age groups and the boys and girls.

These teams will participate in the US Youth Soccer Inter-Regional events which are sponsored by the US Youth Soccer ODP program.  The Inter-Regionals are attended by the US Soccer National Team coaches and the National Team pools are selected at these events.  In addition, approximately 200 college coaches attend to see the best youth soccer talent in the country.

Bob Palmeiro said during the announcement, "This expansion enhances the US Youth Soccer Region I ODP program by exposing twice many Region I players to this high level of play and the National team exposure.  It also provides additional coaching opportunities on our staff and will enhance coaching education in the Region."

"This change will give more of our players an opportunity to participate in the premier ODP program in the US", said Massachusetts State President Sid Bloom.
