The four US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Regional Teams will compete against the US Under 17 Men's National Team and three international teams. In addition, a feature match between the US U17 National Team and Portugal's SL Benfica will open the Showcase in style on December 26, the eve of the first day of competitions. The Region I team will play in the adidas Super Group A and play four games during the event competing against Portugal's SL Benfica, RSC Anderlect from Belgium, the Canadian U17 National Team and the Region II ODP team. The complete Region I schedule can be found here.
This event is one of the many events offered to players who compete in the US Youth Soccer ODP Program. The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.
