Each year at the Regional Fall Meeting, Bob Palmeiro, the Region I Director, picks an Volunteer of the year to recognize and thank people within the region that have gone above and beyond in their dedication and service to soccer in Region I.  In his presentation, Bob said, "It is hard to choose just two people with so many volunteers contributing so much to the players and programs of Region I."

This year's receiptents of the award are:

Peggy Neason from Penn West - Peggy has chaired the Regional TopSoccer program for many years and has developed the Regional TopSoccer program into the best regional TopSoccer program in US Youth Soccer.  She has organized a region wide conference for TopSoccer attended by representatives from all the states to discuss ways to make each state's TopSoccer program a better program.  Peggy is also the TopSoccer person for Pennsylvania West.

Sid Bloom from Massachusetts - Sid is the state president of Massachusetts and has dedicated himself to improving the programs for the players in Massachusetts.  For the past five year, Sid has worked on developing a State Field Complex for Massachusetts and the completion of this ten field complex is set for September 2007.  Sid was the previous Region I Recreation Committee Chair and now serves as the Chair of the US Youth Soccer Recreation Committee.  The Rec Committee, in conjunction with the Coaches Committee, has developed the Novice Coaches DVD.
